Felix scores on Milan debut in win over Roma

Joao Felix scored on his debut and Tammy Abraham netted a double against his parent club to earn AC Milan a 3-1 win over Roma in their Coppa Italia quarter-final at the San Siro on Wednesday (Feb 5).

Abraham, who joined Milan from Roma in August on a season-long loan deal, put the hosts in front with a header in the 16th minute before punishing his old teammates again three minutes before the break. The Roma substitute Artem Dovbyk pulled one back nine minutes into the second half, before Felix came off the bench and netted in the 71st minute, two days after his arrival on loan from Chelsea.

Abraham, who joined Roma in 2021, was booed by the fans of his parent club.

Milan, five times winners of the Coppa Italia, will meet either Inter or Lazio in a two-legged semi-final.

Bologna beat Atalanta 1-0 on Tuesday to reach the semifinals for the first time in 26 years. It will face either holder Juventus or Empoli, who play their quarterfinal on Feb 26.

In Spain, a stoppage-time goal by the 20-year-old striker Gonzalo Garcia earned Real Madrid a hard-fought 3-2 win over local rivals Leganes in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

The defending champions Bayer Leverkusen came from 2-0 down to beat rivals Cologne 3-2 after extra time and advance to the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal.
