Bangladesh Bank has given direction to the branches of the scheduled banks located in the readymade garments (RMG) industrial areas to remain open on Mar 28-29 to facilitate payment of garment workers' salary, Eid bonus, allowances and export-import activities. The central bank of Bangladesh gave the directive to the scheduled banks through a circular on Monday (Mar 24).
The central bank has asked banks to continue operation before Eid-ul-Fitr in the branches located near garments industrial areas in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram ensuring adequate security.
According to the circular, clients will be able to do banking from 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Mar 28 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mar 29.
However, the banks will remain open from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Mar 28 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mar 29.
