Seminar on trauma care held at BMU

A seminar on 'CME on Essential of Trauma Care in the Emergency Room' was held at Super Specialised Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) in Dhaka. Orthopedic Surgery Department and Planetary Health Academia (PHA) jointly organized the event, said a press release.

BMU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md Shahinul Alam addressed it as the chief guest, while emergency medicine specialist of University of Texas Dr Asahi Maksura Hossain readout the keynote paper.

BMU Proctor orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sheikh Farhad, Associate Professor Dr. Md Ali Faisal, Additional Director of Super Specialised Hospital Dr. Md Shahidul Hasan, PHA President Dr. Shakil Farid, medicine specialist Dr Aktaruzzaman and plastic surgeon Dr Towfique Elahi, among others, spoke at the event with Orthopedic Surgery Department Chairman Professor Dr. Md Anowarul Islam in the chair.

VC Dr. Md Shahinul Alam said about 7,000 people die in road accidents in Bangladesh every year. The number of injured is three times more than death, he added.

He said, "There are also other injuries. In this situation, an advanced emergency room or department or emergency medicine is very important to save lives by providing emergency medical services to injured patients."
