Real Madrid slump to dismal defeat

Real Madrid fell to a second consecutive home defeat on Tuesday (Nov 5) evening as they were thoroughly beaten 3-1 by AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League. An entertaining first half piled more pressure on Carlo Ancelotti's side after their Clasico demolition, with Vinicius Junior's penalty sandwiched in between a header from Malick Thiaw and tap-in from Alvaro Morata. Milan were much the better side in the Spanish capital and produced a clinching third goal in the 73rd minute as Tijjani Reijnders lashed home from close range to punish a dismal Madrid performance.

AC Milan pulled off a remarkable result in the UEFA Champions League as they ran out 3-1 winners against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Milan took an early lead in the game and it came via the familiar method of a near-post corner that Malick Thiaw powered in, but Vinicius Junior won and converted a penalty to level things not long after.

The Rossoneri then stunned the Bernabeu crowd with two unanswered goals. The second goal came from Alvaro Morata as he pounced on a rebound just before the break, then after it Tijjani Reijnders fired in from close range.

Both sides missed chances to either put the game to bed in Milan’s case or reopen the contest in Real’s case, but the end result was 3-1 and a huge three points in the ‘league phase’ of the UCL.

Real are languishing in 17th place in the 36-team Champions League table with six points, one spot ahead of Milan on goal difference after four games.
