Tigresses complete 3-0 ODI series win over Ireland

Third ODI, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka
Ireland 185 (50 overs): Lewis 52, Prendergast 27; Fahima 3-43, Sultana 2-29
Bangladesh 186-3 (37.3 overs): Supta 72, Pinky 61; Maguire 2-38
Bangladesh won by seven wickets; won the series 3-0
Player of the Match: Sharmin Akhter Supta
Player of the Series: Fargana Hoque Pinky

Sharmin Akhter Supta and Fargana Hoque Pinky stitched a 143-run partnership as Bangladesh beat Ireland by seven wickets to win the series 3-0 and boost their chances of sealing a direct qualification for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Previously, Bangladesh’s spinners took all ten wickets as Ireland made 185 in their full quota of 50 overs. In defence of the total, they removed Murshida Khatun inside the first five overs. However, Supta and Pinky’s 143-run partnership for the second wicket put the Tigresses on the way to victory. Bangladesh's 3-0 series sweep also has massive implications for their direct qualification for the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 (IWC). Top five teams in the standings, including hosts India, will secure direct entry to the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.

Bangladesh women’s team completed a 3-0 one-day international series victory over Ireland as Player of the Match Sharmin Akhter Supta's 72 helped the dominant hosts win by seven wickets with 12.3 overs to spare.

In a repeat performance from game two on Saturday, Ireland were unable to score enough with the bat to put Bangladesh under pressure in Mirpur.

Captain Gaby Lewis did hit 52 but Ireland's best partnership was the 48 put on for the second wicket by the skipper and Amy Hunter.

Hunter's departure for 23 after being trapped lbw by Rabeya Khan left the tourists on 57-2 after 19.1 overs.

Lewis and Orla Prendergast (27) then produced a partnership of 40 but wickets tumbled after the skipper was bowled by Fahima Khatun, who finished with figures of 3-43 from her 10 overs.

The Tigresses lost Murshida Khatun early in their reply, however, Supta and Player of the Series Fargana Hoque Pinky took the game totally away from the Irish by producing a partnership of 143.

Supta was eventually dismissed by Aimee Maguire in the 33rd over with Pinky departing two overs later for 61, with Maguire again claiming the wicket.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty (18*) and Sobhana Mostary (7*) steered the hosts to their third emphatic victory of the series.

A three-match Twenty20 series between the countries begins in Sylhet on Thursday (Dec 5) with the remaining games on Saturday and next Monday.
