Bangladesh Railway has decided to launch special cattle train service to bring sacrificial animals in the capital before Eid-ul-Azha amid Covid-19 pandemic.
The Bangladesh Railway will operate special cattle train service on July 17, 18 and 19 to bring sacrificial animals to the capital on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, Senior Information Officer Shariful Alam told media on Tuesday (Jul 6).
He said the Railways Ministry gave the final approval on Jun 30 to operate the special cattle train service, adding, initially the trains will run from Jamalpur to Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka.
Besides, a decision will be taken to bring animals from Mymensingh and Northern region to Dhaka in cattle traders’ interest, Shariful said.
Considering transportation of sacrificial animals at a low cost during the Covid-19 pandemic, the government had launched special cattle train service last year aimed at bringing animals to the capital safely alongside, he added.
