Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus urged the countrymen to bear the message of Eid-ul-Fitr in mind to move the nation forward and establish peace in the country. “This year’s Eid is very important so that we get closer to each other and minimise our distance, make the nation and society united. Because, getting united this time is crucial and that should be achieved,” he told a view-exchange function in Dhaka on Monday (Mar 31), local media reported.
In his brief address, Muhammad Yunus said all should bear this message in mind to move forward. “We will be tolerable to each other; we will build friendly relations with each other. Through this, peace returns to a society. Returning peace to Bangladesh is an urgent now and this must be remembered in our mind every day,” he said.
The Chief Adviser said they want peace in the country so that people can pass their days freely. “We wish good lack to each other and we seek peace for the nation and the whole world as well,” he said, adding that they were delighted to be here on the Eid day.
Highlighting the message of Eid, Prof. Yunus said Eid is a unique day to refine the nation and its people so they can overcome all distances and all differences and build up unity among them. “And the nation needs that unity, particularly this time that we are passing through our history. This is very important,” he said.
He sought help from all to build this unity and move forward.
At the function held at the Chief Adviser's Office in Tejgaon in the afternoon, Dr. Yunus exchanged Eid greetings with dignitaries from different walks.
Advisers, special assistants to the Chief Adviser, judges, attorney general, diplomats, members of National Consensus Commission, members of reform commissions, political leaders, chief of three services, civil society members and journalists were present, among others.
