Flight operations at HSIA remain normal despite tensions

Flight operations at HSIA remain normal despite tensions

Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) have remained normal despite regional tensions triggered by reported missile strikes in parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir early Wednesday (May 7).

"Except for two diverted flights, our overall flight operation continues as normal," HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam told National News Agency of Bangladesh on Wednesday afternoon. He said two Dhaka-bound international flights – one operated by Turkish Airlines and the other by Jazeera Airways – altered their routes in the early hours of the day due to heightened security concerns in the region.

The Turkish Airlines flight TK-712/713 from Istanbul avoided Pakistani airspace and made a precautionary landing at Muscat International Airport in Oman.

Meanwhile, Jazeera Airways flight 531/532 was diverted to Dubai, while its return service (533/534) flew back to Kuwait.

Airport authorities confirmed that all other scheduled flights are operating without disruption.
