Bangladeshi footballer Hamza Choudhury has landed at the Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Monday (Mar 17) morning and was heading towards his ancestral village Snanghat of Bahubal Upazila, Habiganj for a long-awaited homecoming.
Hamza arrived in the country with his family members and is expected to stay two days in Habiganj before joining the Bangladesh football team camp ahead of the Asian Cup Qualifiers against India in Shillong on Mar 25.
Upon arrival, the Sheffield United forward was welcomed by his family, football officials and legions of people who have been counting down the days before his arrival.
To welcome the Premier League star, atleast 500 decorative gates have been erected along the 4-5 km road from the Putijuri highway to his home and the villagers have also planned a grand reception for Hamza.
Hamza, who has represented England at age-level football, has decided to represent Bangladesh at the international level and will make his debut against India.
