The Bangladesh Bank has postponed the exchange of fresh notes for the public ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. The central bank on Monday (Mar 10) issued a directive to this end. According to the directive, branches holding fresh notes must not exchange them and should keep them in reserve.
Banks have been advised to complete all cash transactions using re-circulated notes.
A senior official of the central bank said banknotes with new designs will be released in April-May.
