Bangladesh women reach semis as group winner

Bangladesh stormed into the semifinals of SAFF Women's Championship by edged past India 3-1 in their final group A match on Wednesday (Oct 23). Sabina Khatun-led side also climbed the top of group A.

Forward Tohura Khatun scored two while Afeida Khandakar supported her with a strike for Bangladesh team which almost reigned all through the proceeding and secured their deserving victory at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Captain Bala Devi scored a one goal for India. All the four gaols came in the first half.

Bangladesh will play the first semifinal against group B runners-up team on Oct 27 at the same venue.

India, who earlier confirmed their semifinal spot, will also meet against group B champions in the second semifinals on the same day.  

Earlier, Bangladesh salvaged a 1-1 goal draw against Pakistan in their group opening match.
