Online rail ticket sale starts

Bangladesh Railway began sale of the advanced tickets on Sunday (Jun 2) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha as all tickets will be available online. Tickets of all inter-city trains will be available online from Sunday on the Eid-ul-Azha expected to be celebrated on Jul 17 in Bangladesh, Railways Minister Md. Zillul Hakim said at a press conference at his ministry, local media reported.

Earlier, the minister also held a meeting on his ministry's preparation to ensure safe journey of the travelers on Eid-ul-Azha.

Tickets for Jun 12 will be sold Sunday, and tickets for Jun 13, l4, 15, and 16 will be sold on Jun 3, 4, 5 and 6 respectively.

The Bangladesh Railway will start selling advanced return tickets from Jun 10. On the first day, the tickets will be sold for Jun 20. Return tickets for Jun 21, 22, 23 and 24 will be sold on Jun 11, 12, 13 and 14 respectively.

The sale of tickets for trains bound to the western zone will start at 8:00 a.m. while sale of tickets for east-bound trains will begin from 2:00 p.m. A total of 33,500 tickets of intercity trains will be sold on the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

Apart from this, 25 percent standing tickets among total general class seats will be sold at the station counters.

Railways Ministry Secretary Dr Md Humayun Kabir, BR Director General Sardar Sahadat Ali and Additional Director General (infrastructure) Md Arifuzzaman were present, among others, at the press conference.
