Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate the Agargaon-Motijheel part of Dhaka Metro Rail MRT Line-6 on Oct 29 instead of Oct 20, said ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division, local media reported. With the opening of Agargaon-Motijheel section, commuters will avail the service from Uttara to Motijheel.
The secretary said the high-speed trains will help reduce carbon emissions... reduce traffic, adding, "It will take just 40 minutes from Uttara to Motijheel. Now commuters need from one and a half to two hours to go by bus or private cars."
Earlier, on Dec 28, the PM inaugurated the first phase of the first ever metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon.
