By-polls to five parliamentary constituencies Feb 1

By-polls to the five parliamentary seats, which fell vacant following the resignation of BNP lawmakers, will be held on Feb 1 next year. Election Commission Secretary Md Jahangir Alam announced the election schedule on Sunday (Dec 18) after a meeting at the EC office in Dhaka's Agargaon area, local media reported.

By-polls to five parliamentary constituencies that fell vacant following the resignations of BNP lawmakers will take place on Feb 1 next.

Election Commission Secretary Md Jahangir Alam Sunday (Dec 18) announced the schedule of the by polls in the vacant constituencies – Chapainawabganj-2, Bogura-4, Bogura-6, Thakurgaon-3 and Brahmanbaria-2. 

The voting in constituencies will be held by using the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) while the voting will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the day, he said.

As per the schedule, the last date for submitting the nomination papers on Jan 5 while the scrutinizing of the nomination papers will be on Jan 8.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is Jan 15.
