Ershad likely to take oath Sunday

Jaityo party chairman HM Ershad is likely to take oath as an MP of the 11th parliament on Sunday (Jan 6). Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury may administer the oath in parliament, local media reports said citing Ershad's deputy press secretary Delwar Jalali.

Ershad was elected MP from Rangpur-3 seat in the Dec 30 election.

Earlier in the day, Jatiyo Party co-chairman GM Quader at a press conference said they will play the role of the main opposition for the smooth functioning of parliament while their party chairman HM Ershad will act as the Leader of the Opposition.

The JP leader said Ershad’s health condition is now good, and he will take oath as an MP very soon after taking a schedule of the Speaker of parliament.

Jatiyo Party, which joined the election as the key partner of the Bangladesh Awami League-Grand Alliance, bagged 22 seats in the election.
