Rain, thundershowers likely in parts of the country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday (May 11) predicted rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind in different parts of the country for the next 120 hours, commencing from 9 a.m. "Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," said a BMD bulletin. Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the release added.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Severe to very severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Chuadanga, Dhaka, Tangail, Manikganj, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Sirajganj and Jashore.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping elsewhere over the country and it may continue.

The highest temperature recorded on Saturday was 42.0 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga in Khulna division. The lowest temperature recorded on Sunday was 23.5 degrees Celsius at Rajarhat in Rangpur division and Sylhet district in Sylhet division.
