'July: Martibhumi Othaba Mrittu' (July: Motherland or Death) a book on July Uprising written by Interim government's Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has been unveiled on Saturday (Mar 15). The book was unveiled at the Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum in Dhaka, local media reported. Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam, National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, National Citizens Party Joint Member Secretary Rifat Rashid and other distinguished guests were present, local media reported.
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuyian said he wrote the book briefly due to time constraints and expressed his desire to elaborate in details in the next edition. He called upon the protesters to write each stories and present those before the nation so that they can record a complete history of the July movement within the next two or three years.
Adviser Asif Nazrul highlighted the briefness of the book as limitation and asked to define the characters more elaborately. He urged the publishers to compile the stories of every injured and martyr of the July movement as participants has their own stories.
National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam said, “We did not go for one-point at first. Our thought was that the issue of the government's fall should come from the people. When the people finally declare the fall of the government, we will only make the official announcement. That is what happened. We only made the official announcement from Shaheed Minar.”
He said there is a brief description of the uprising in Asif's book. The main plan of the movement was to involve people spontaneously, he added.
