Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier, on Saturday (Jan 4) celebrated its 53rd founding anniversary with various events and tributes. To mark the occasion, a floral wreath was placed at the martyr's memorial at Balaka, headquarters of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, in the city's Kurmitola area to honor the brave martyrs of the Liberation War, said a press release of the airlines.
The event was attended by Biman's Board of Directors Chairman Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, its Managing Director and CEO Dr. Md. Shafiqul Rahman, directors, union and association leaders and officials and employees from all levels of the airlines.
The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National flag and playing of the National anthem. A prayer session was also held seeking continued progress and prosperity for the state-owned airlines.
As part of the festivities, the Balaka headquarters was decorated with colorful lights and a cake-cutting ceremony took place in the building's lobby. Besides, anniversary announcements were made on all Biman flights throughout the day, and passengers on flights departing from Dhaka were presented with special gifts as a token of appreciation.
