Hosted at Chef’s Table Courtside, the Standard Chartered Cup 2024 featured a series of intense matches that highlighted the competitive spirit and camaraderie of Bangladesh’s corporate community. The grand finale, held amidst an enthusiastic audience, saw United Group defeat British American Tobacco Bangladesh in a penalty shootout, after the game ended 0-0 in regular time. The trophy was handed over by Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO, and Enamul Haque, MD & Head, Client Coverage, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Standard Chartered Bangladesh.

Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said, “The Standard Chartered Cup is more than just a football tournament; it is a celebration of community, teamwork, and excellence. Nizamuddin Hasan Rashid, Director, United Group, said, “Winning the Standard Chartered Cup 2024 is a moment of immense pride for our team. It has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges and unforgettable memories. We are very much looking forward to our Anfield adventure!”

The participating teams this year were Abul Khair Group, British American Tobacco Bangladesh Coca-Cola Bangladesh Beverages Limited, DBL Group, Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Limited, Fakir Fashion Ltd, IDLC, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Pran Group, Robi Axiata, Unilever Bangladesh Limited and United Group.

Standard Chartered has been hosting the SC Cup tournament in Bangladesh since 2014. Previous winners of the SC Cup include Grameenphone, Banglatrac, Robi and Youth Group.

Standard Chartered began sponsoring Liverpool Football Club (LFC) in July of 2010. In the last 13 years, the partnership has gone from strength to strength – as a result of the many things Standard Chartered and LFC have in common. For example, the Bank and LFC are both firmly rooted in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and a huge majority of LFC’s 770 million followers are based in the very same markets which Standard Chartered calls home.
