BNP for forging unity, election roadmap

Bangladesh Nationalist Party – BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday (Dec 4) reiterated his party's stand for 'Election Roadmap' so that none can dare to hatch conspiracy to this end. "As the incumbent government is committed to return the people's right, we have demanded to give a roadmap for elections after making necessary reforms very quickly," he said. The senior BNP leader was talking to journalists after a dialogue of the political parties with the Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Foreign Service Academy. In a move aimed at fostering national unity, the Chief Adviser held the dialogue with leaders of major political parties' on the afternoon, local media reported.

Mosharraf said the way fascist government was ousted through mass-uprising in July-August, the same way people-student would face the conspirators. "Once the people get the roadmap and proceed towards the polls, none will have the courage to hatch any conspiracy what you are facing now," the BNP delegation told the Chief Adviser in the sitting.

A five-member delegation of BNP led by Dr. Khandker Mosharraf Hossain took part in the "Political Parties' Dialogue". Other members of the delegation are: BNP Standing Committee Members Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Prof Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

Mosharraf said the Chief Adviser during the meeting discussed existing political, social and some other various issues of the neighboring countries and sought all-out cooperation of all political parties to protect the existence of Bangladesh.

The BNP leader said Bangladesh had achieved independence for democracy, economic freedom, peace and order in exchange of the martyrdom of millions of people this December while this incumbent Interim Government was established through a student-people movement.

"Their responsibility is to protect the independence and sovereignty of this country and establish democracy... Everyone is united against the fascist, deposed Awami League government, which is plotting against our country from abroad," Dr. Mosharraf mentioned.

Alleging that efforts are being made to create division among the countrymen, the senior BNP leader added: "We have reached a consensus with the government that we will face the conspiracy of the fascists and their allies in the same way the people ousted the erstwhile fascist government through tough movement".
