With blossom of flowers and new leaves in trees, nature is getting fresh and colorful shape that touch the hearts and minds of all ages of people as spring (Pahele Falgun) is knocking at the door. Pahela Falgun, the first day of spring of Bengali month Falgun, will be celebrated on Wednesday (Feb 14) with offering flowers, recitation of poems, singing songs and performing dances. It brings joys and colours both in nature and life.
The winter season has come to a close with rising of temperature as the people is set to welcome Pahela Falgun embracing the fragrance of nature and exchanging love with their beloved ones. The spring has been depicted as the king of all seasons in poetry for it is featured by the extraordinary beauty of nature.
After the dryness of winter, new leaves start to come out again and nature adorns the branches with new colorful flowers like Shimul, Polash and Marigold bringing the news of spring.
Everything in nature gives an impression of youthfulness or freshness as if the nature takes a new birth. Colorful flowers, melody of birds or mild touch of the sunshine – everything will make you feel that springtime is the nature's festival.
The festival-loving Bangladeshi people welcome and celebrate this day with great joys and love, and in a colourful manner. The blazing red and yellow are the representative colours of Pahela Falgun.
Bangalees embellish themselves with these two primary colors. Girls are dressed in "Bashonti" (yellow or orange colored) sarees and wearing floral ornaments while boys wear colorful panjabis to welcome the arrival of spring.
Bakultola of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University is the centre point of the festival. Thousands of young men and women gather in the morning and celebrate the day singing songs, reciting poems and dancing.

Pahela Falgun brings joys, colours and hopes not only in the nature but also in the lives and minds of the people of all ages.
Jatiyo Basanta Utsab Udjapan Parishad has been arranging the main programmes of the day for over two decades. The parishad will arrange different programmes including songs and recitation of poems at the Bakultala of Fine Arts Faculty from dawn, local media reported.
