Concert for flood-hit people at DU on Monday and Tuesday

A two-day concert named ‘Concert for flood-hit people’ will begin on Monday (Jun 27) at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU).

A number of renowned bands including Warfaze, Ark, Ashes, Viking, Sonar Bangla circus, Sohojia will perform the concert scheduled to be held on Jun 27 and Jun 28 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The entry fee of the concert has been fixed at Tk 300 and the entire amount will go to the flood-hit people of the country, the organisers told a press conference at the office of Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA).

The concert is being arranged by the teachers and students of the university under an initiative titled ‘All cultural and social organisations of Dhaka University with flood-hit people,’ they said in the press conference, local media reported.

Former DU Senate member Golam Quddus, DU Mass Communication and Journalism Department Professor Robaet Ferdous and DU Teachers Association General Secretary Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan have been made as Convener, Member Secretary and Adviser of the initiative respectively.

The press conference was arranged to inform the people and invite them to come forward for helping the flood-hit people by attending the concert.

Member secretary of the initiative Prof Robaet Ferdous said, As a public university, DU runs with the funding and taxes of the people of this country. So, it is the university's responsibility to give a hand to the flood-affected people.

Everyone related to the university as well as the people of the country will attend the concert in a bid to help the flood-hit people, he hoped.
