The government has decided to close shops, shopping malls, markets and kitchen markets across the country after 8 p.m. from Monday (Jun 20) to save electricity and fuel.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in the conference room of the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Sunday afternoon, according to a statement issued by the labour and employment ministry.
It said State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian presided over the meeting.
Labour and Employment Secretary Md Ehsan Elahi, Power Division Secretary Md Habibur Rahman, Additional secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources division Dr Moh Sher Ali, additional secretary of commerce ministry Nusrat Zabin Banu, additional secretary of Labour and Employment ministry Masud Karim, Inspector General of Factor and establishment Inspection Department Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed, senior vice president of FBCCI Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Bangladesh Shop Owners Association President Md Helal Uddin, Jatiya Sramik League President Md Noor Kutub Alam Mannan and representatives of different ministries were present at the meeting.
