Bayern win to close in on Bundesliga title

Bayern win to close in on Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich can secure a 10th straight Bundesliga title next weekend after they bounced back from their Champions League exit with a 3-0 win at Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday (Apr 17). An own goal by Bielefeld defender Jacob Laursen and strikes by Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala saw Bayern move nine points clear.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich restored their nine-point lead with a comfortable victory at relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld.

With four games left, Bayern reacted well to their shock Champions League exit to Villarreal as they closed in on a 10th consecutive league crown.

Jacob Barrett Laursen's own-goal was added to by Serge Gnaby's brilliant volley just before the break. Jamal Musiala completed the scoring late on from close range.

Bayern can wrap up the title with victory at home to second-placed Borussia Dortmund next weekend.

RB Leipzig won 1-0 at Bayer Leverkusen to move into third place at the expense of their opponents. Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal, just over 20 minutes from time.

Sixth-placed Union Berlin built on their derby win at Hertha Berlin with a 2-0 home victory against Eintracht Frankfurt. Eintracht, coming off a win over Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, were one of only two Bundesliga teams that Union had failed to beat at home since they earned promotion in 2019. Bayern are the other.

Last-placed Greuther Fürth drew 0-0 at Hoffenheim. Fürth are 12 points from the last safe spot and have only a mathematical chance of avoiding relegation.
