Main Eid Jamaat at National Eidgah at 8.30 a.m.

The main Jamaat of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises in the capital at 8.30 am. If the congregation cannot be held due to adverse weather or any other unavoidable reason, it will be held at 9 a.m. at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Religious Affairs Ministry on Tuesday (Apr 12) with State for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan in the chair. The inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Secretariat to fix the government's programme for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, a handout said.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslim Ummah, will be celebrated on May 2 or 3, subject to the moon sighting.

Representatives from the Cabinet Division, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, the Home Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Local Government Division, the Power Division, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Education Ministry, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Textiles and Jute Ministry, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Islamic Foundation and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) were present at the meeting.
