Students happy getting textbooks at beginning of New Year

Students happy getting textbooks at beginning of New Year

As part of the government's efforts of reaching new books to the students on the first day of the New Year, the distribution of free textbooks started on Saturday (Jan 1) across the country including the capital.

Like every year, free textbooks were handed over to the students in the academic year 2022.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government could not hold the "Textbook Festival" this year. However, students became very happy after getting new text books in their hands at different educational institutions in the country.

All students collected their textbooks by maintaining proper health rules at their respective educational institutions in the country, local media reported.

In this academic year, a total of 34 crore 70 lakh 22 thousand 130 copies of textbooks are being distributed free of cost among 4 crore 17 lakh 26 thousand 856 students.

Braille textbooks for visually impaired students will also be given while 5 ethnic groups will also get books printed in their respective mother tongues this year.

However, it is not possible to give books to all students on the first day of this year. Book distribution will continue for a few days so that students can get new books in phases.
