Ekushey Padak winning writer Bulbul Chowdhury passes away

Ekushey Padak winning writer Bulbul Chowdhury passed away on Saturday (Aug 28). He was 73. The writer breathed his last at his residence in the capital around 6:00 p.m., local media reported citing family sources. He was suffering from cancer.

Bulbul Chowdhury was born on Aug 16, 1948, at Dakshinbag in Gazipur. He was honoured with Ekushey Padak for his contribution to Bangla literature.

He also received the Bangla Academy Literary Award, the Humayun Qadir Smriti Purashkar, and the Jasimuddin Smriti Purashkar, to name a few. After Namaz-e-Janaza his body will be taken to the Bangla Academy premises on Sunday.

Tuka Kahini, Machher Raat, Aparup Bil Jhil Nodi, Tiyaser Lekhon, Jibaner Ankibunki, Atoler Kathakatha, Prachin Gitikar Golpo, are some of his popular fictional works.

Bulbul Chowdhury is survived by his wife and three sons.
