Bangladesh will get 10 lakh doses of Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine from the USA as gift on Aug 30 under the global vaccine-sharing initiative COVAX. On Aug 23, after the weekly cabinet meeting, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said a total of 60 lakh shots of Pfizer vaccine will reach Bangladesh by September this year, an official release said on Tuesday (Aug 24).
As part of 60 lakh jabs of Pfizer, Bangladesh will get 10 lakh vaccines on Aug 30 and remaining 50 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in phases by September, he added.
On May 27, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) approved emergency use of Pfizer mRNA Covid-19 vaccine in the country.
Bangladesh has so far approved eight Covid-19 vaccines to control the deadly disease. The approved Covid-19 vaccines are from Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, CoronaVac, Pfizer, Covishield, Sputnik V, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.
