Two hundred and sixty-four people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8 a.m. Tuesday (Aug 10), said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 23,161 and the death rate stands at 1.68 percent.
This is the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 since the pandemic started in the country last year. The same number of deaths were recorded in 24 hours on Aug 5 as well.
At least 11,164 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 13,76,322, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 23.54 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.76 percent.
