Public movement remains stopped in seven districts from Jun 22-30

The government has imposed restriction on overall activities including public movements in seven districts of the country from 6 a.m. Tuesday (Jun 22) to midnight of Jun 30.

Considering the Covid-19 infection situation, overall activities/movement including public movements in Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj districts will remain stopped from 6 a.m. on Jun 22 to midnight of Jun 30, said a cabinet division notification on Monday (Jun 21) afternoon.

During the restriction, it said all public and vehicular movements will remain suspended in the districts.

However, the vehicles carrying law enforcement agency members and engaged in emergency services like transporting agricultural materials (fertilizers, seeds, insecticides and agricultural equipments), food grains and food products, distributing relief goods, and health services, Covid-19 vaccination programme, power, water, gas/energy, fire service, ports (river ports) activities, telephone, internet (government and private), mass media (print and electronic media) private security management, postal services, and offices engaged in delivering other emergency and essential goods and services and their officials and vehicles, and goods laden trucks and lorries will remain out of purview of the restriction.

Ban on vessel movement in 7 districts from Tuesday

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has imposed a ban on movement of passenger-vessel in seven districts for nine days from Tuesday (Jun 22) to restrain the rising tread of coronavirus infection and death rates. BIWTA issued an urgent notice on Monday to this end saying the ban will be effective from 6 a.m. Tuesday and will be continued to midnight of Jun 30.

The notice was issued following the issuance of the notification of the Cabinet Division on imposing restrictions on all kinds of movements in seven districts – Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj. All kinds of passenger-vessel (launch, speedboat, trawler) in all river routes and waterways in the seven districts including Dhaka-Mirkadim or Munshiganj, Narayanganj-Munshiganj or Chandpur or Naria, Shimulia-Banglabazar or Majhikandi, Aricha-Kazirhat, Paturia-Daulatdia will remain stopped during the period.

Passenger vessels coming from anywhere of the country cannot anchor at Madaripur, Paturia, Daulatdia, Aricha, Nayaranganj, Munshiganj and Mirkadim launch ghats or cannot leave the launch ghats.

Goods laden vessels and emergency service providing vessels will remain out of the purview of the ban.
