Italy recorded an impressive group stage form by winning all matches in Group A of Euro 2020. The former world champions defeated Wales 1-0 on Sunday (Jun 20), thanks to Matteo Pessina's goal in the 39th minute at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Wales ended the game with ten men after Ethan Ampadu was sent off.
Italy dominated Group A by scoring seven goals and conceding no goals.
Despite losing to Italy, Wales also qualified for the last 16 by collecting four points.
In another Group A clash, Switzerland beat Turkey 3-1 in Baku.
Switzerland had four points but came third on goal difference. They will have to wait for the group stage to end to be among the four best third-placed teams to qualify for the knockout stages.
Turkey are out of the tournament after losing all group matches.
