Warfaze founder Kamal retires

Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal, founder member and lead guitarist of popular Bangladeshi Hard Rock band Warfaze, has announced his retirement from live performances on his health grounds. The Guitarman announced his retirement from Warfaze through a facebook post on Wednesday (Dec 20).

"I have been playing on stage and recording since mid 80's. And it's mostly Heavy Metal. Playing heavy music requires extreme physical fitness. Physical injuries due to playing heavy metal started in my life from 2010. I am going through recurring injuries till today. Athletes can recover through proper treatment, physiotherapy and rest. My life had no respite. And according to my Dr.s recent advice, I should take rest and heal or suffer the consequences of reality. I am done with performing on stage indefinitely. I can not keep on stage commitments anymore", wrote Kamal in the facebook post.

Soumen Das will be replacing Kamal in the band, informed Warfaze leader Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu. "Kamal has decided to retire from live performances. However, he will be with Warfaze in other ways and we will miss him on stage", said Tipu.

Warfaze was formed in 1984 and since then it produced seven successful studio albums and one compiled album in their long musical career. These albums are Warfaze (1991), Obaak Valobasha (1994), Jibondhara (1997), Oshamajik (1998), Alo (2001), Moharaj (2003), Poth Chola (2008), and Shotto (2012).

The band is currently working on their eighth studio album which will be released in 2018.
