Bangladesh reports 2955 fresh cases, 77 deaths from Covid-19

Bangladesh today reported 2,955 Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 77 lives. The recovery count rose to 6,72,319 after another 5,392 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

Seventy-seven people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8 a.m. today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 11,305 and the death rate stands at 1.50 percent.

At least 2,955 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 7,54,614, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 10.48 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.91 percent.

A total of 28,206 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8 a.m. today).

At least 5,392 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,72,319 and the recovery rate at 89.09 percent.

Among the 77 deceased, 43 were men and 34 were women. Of them, two were within 21-30 years old; eight were within 31-40; three between 41-50; 12 within 51-60; and 52 were above 60 years old, added the release.
