‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib award’ introduced

The government has introduced ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib’ Award from this year to recognize five Bangladeshi women in different categories in every year.

Five Bangladeshi women will be given the award for their important contributions and glorious role in the categories of politics; economics; education, culture and sports; social services; independence and Liberation War, research, agriculture and rural development, said a press release.

A virtual meeting was held on Monday (Apr 26) on formulating programme for giving the ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Padak-2021’. State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Md. Sayedul Islam, Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha Chairman Begum Chemon Ara Tayab, Women Affairs Department Director General Ram Chandra Das and Additional Secretary Farida Parvin joined the meeting, among others.

The award will be considered as the highest state award for women in ‘Ka’ category.

It will be given on Aug 8 every year on the birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib.
