Banks will remain open in limited scale during the extended period of the ongoing lockdown till Apr 28 to facilitate the financial transaction of their clients.
As per a circular of the Bangladesh Bank, banks will remain open from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. every working day from Apr 21 to 28 while the transaction shall be made between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The decision of the banking watchdog came hours after the government issued a circular on Tuesday (Apr 20) extending the ongoing lockdown for another week beginning from Thursday amid the rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths.
On Apr 13, the central bank issued a circular with similar instructions on banking hours.
