Bangladesh crosses grim landmark of 10,000 Covid deaths

Ninety-four people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8 a.m. today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This is the second-highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in the span of a day so far in the country. Total casualties crossed 90 for the second day in a row today.

With this the total number of deaths reached 10,081 and death rate stands at 1.43 percent.

At least 4,192 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,07,362, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 21.00 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.83 percent.

A total of 19,959 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8 a.m. today).

At least 5,915 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,97,214 and the recovery rate at 84.43 percent.

Among the 94 deceased, 64 were men and 30 women while three were between 31-40 years old, 14 within 41-50, 25 within 51-60 and 52 were above 60 years old, added the release.
