Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the ongoing restrictions that began on Apr 5 will be continued till Apr 13. He said the public transports will ply in cities with conditions, keeping half of the seats empty and receiving adjusted fares from passengers on Monday and Tuesday as per the ongoing restrictions while inter-city passenger-vehicle services will continue to remain suspended until future notice.
The ongoing seven-day restrictions on movement, which is supposed to end today, will continue until the strict, all-out lockdown begins on Apr 14. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this today at a regular media briefing from his residence, local media reported.
The announcement came from the minister when many were confused as to what would happen on Apr 12 and 13, with no directive about the two days.
The Awami League general secretary said long-route buses will remain off road until further decision but public transport in city corporation areas will continue on Apr 12 and 13, like before.
Urging all to stay home unless emergencies during all-out lockdown, the minister said government will issue a circular with directives to follow in this regard.
