Information Minister inaugurates Online Book Fair

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday (Jan 31) inaugurated a month-long Online Ekushey Book Fair virtually from the meeting room of his secretariat office in the city. boionlinebd.com organised the book fair that will end on Feb 28, local media reported.

Welcoming the initiative of arranging the online book fair during the Covid-19 situation, Hasan, also Bangladesh Awami League joint general secretary, said it has been possible to organize the book fair by using digital technology because of materializing of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ dreamt by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The minister said Bangladesh didn’t stop under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina when the whole globe wedged due to Coronavirus epidemic.

Bangladesh’s position is the third among the 22 countries which achieved positive GDP growth during the Covid-19 pandemic, said the minister.

Encouraging people to read books, he said, the reading habit among today’s children and teenagers does not remain as same as before.

The minister hoped that the book fair will be helpful to encourage youths in reading books and create patriotism among the people.

Owner of the organization Rabin Ahsan gave welcome address in the function.
