The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today extended the deadline for income tax return submission by one month. Now, taxpayers can file their tax returns by Dec 31, NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem told reporters at a media briefing in his office today, local media reported.
Yesterday, the NBR chief said the tax return deadline would not be extended. However, that decision has been changed following extension demands from various quarters of taxpayers.
Muneem said that NBR decided to extend the deadline as many taxpayers were yet to file their returns.
The official time for tax return filing starts from Jul 1 every year and ends on Nov 30.
