The National Board of Revenue is not going to extend the deadline for income tax return submission beyond Nov 30, said its chief today.
However, taxpayers will be able to file their tax returns taking time from tax offices, said NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, responding to question from reporters at a press briefing at the NBR headquarters.
The NBR made the disclosure despite demand from taxpayers for extension of the deadline, local media reported.
The NBR chairman said commissioners have been told to be lenient towards taxpayers regarding imposition of penalty for failure to submit their annual income statements within the deadline.
Time for return submission without penalty begins from Jul 1 and ends on Nov 30.
