Schools won’t reopen in November

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said none of the educational institutes throughout the country will be reopened in the next month as all the educational institutes have been remaining close since Mar 17 due to corona pandemic.

“It is unlikely to reopen the educational institutes across the country in the upcoming November amid fearing of corona virus spread”, she said on a virtual platform while replying to queries at a press conference in Dhaka.

The educational institutes which was reopened in various places across the globe have been forced to shut down considering the latest spike of the Covid-19 pandemic, she told the press briefing arranged for taking decision on holding the final exams at the secondary schools in the country.

“We have also discussed about this [school reopening] with our National consultant Committee on the corona virus pandemic”, she said quoting as saying the experts opinion on viral infection ahead of the winter season.

She expressed dissatisfaction over the health guidelines which is randomly violating by the cross section of people, adding that so, the decision of reopening the educational institutes would be materialized when the risk of the viral infection would come under tolerable level.

All the educational institutes, except the Kawmi Madrashas have been declared holiday till Oct 31, which remained shutdown from Mar 17.

Bangladesh has so far reported 393,131 coronavirus cases, with 5,723 deaths.
