Global Covid-19 death toll 919,081

The global coronavirus death count soared to 919,081 on Sunday (Sep 13) morning, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Data compiled by JHU showed the globally confirmed cases standing at 28,660,123.

The US, which is the worst affected country, has reported 6,482,523 confirmed cases with 193,670 fatalities. It is followed by India with 4,659,984 cases and 77,472 deaths.

Brazil is the third worst-hit country with 4,315,687 confirmed cases and 131,210 deaths.

Situation in Bangladesh

Bangladesh reported 34 more deaths in 24 hours pushing up the death tally to 4,702.

Besides, the daily infection rate declined to 11.96 percent during the period as 1,282 new patients were detected after the test of 10,723 samples.

With the latest figure, the number of total cases rose to 336,044 which is 19.59 percent of the total tested population.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on Mar 8 and the first death on Mar 18.
