Public transport return to previous fare

Public transport return to previous fare

Public transport on Tuesday (Sep 1) returned to the pre Covid-19 fare withdrawing 60 percent of the increased fare, which was determined to ensure social distancing provision in the buses in a bid to slow down the spread of coronavirus. Along with the resumption of the previous fare for the transport services, the provision of keeping 50 percent seat vacant has also been withdrawn.

Earlier, the government suspended movement of all public transport on Mar 24 in wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country. Later, the government, on Aug 31, permitted to resume the public transport and train services in a condition of maintaining health guidelines.

The government had also increased the fare by 60 percent in a condition of keeping 50 percent seat vacant. The public transport, however, Tuesday returned to their previous fare.
