DMP imposes ban on Tajiya procession marking Ashura

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a restriction on bringing out Tajiya procession in the city marking the Holy Ashura to be observed in the country on Aug 30.

The Muslim devotes can observe the day at the Imambaras in the city, maintaining the social distancing in the wake of Covid-19 situation in the country, said a DMP press release in Dhaka on Wednesday (Aug 26).

But, carrying of sharp objects like knife, sword, blade, pike and firing of fireworks and firecrackers will not be allowed in programme venues, the release added.
