Bangladesh to observe Eid-ul-Azha on Aug 1

Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated across the country on Aug 1 (Saturday), as the new moon of the Arabic month of Zilhaj was not sighted in Bangladesh today.

The decision was made at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office after Maghrib prayers, a press release said.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Nurul Islam.
