NBR asks banks to freeze accounts of Regent’s Shahed, JKG’s Sabrina

NBR asks banks to freeze accounts of Regent’s Shahed, JKG’s Sabrina

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Sunday (Jul 12) asked all commercial banks to freeze the accounts of Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed, JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina A Chowdhury, her family members and their organisations.

NBR Central Intelligence Cell sent the letters to the banks asking for details of those accounts, local media reported citing NBR high official.

Two branches of Regent Hospital – owned by Shahed – were sealed off for allegedly faking Covid-19 test certificates and over other irregularities. Shahed is on the run since law enforcers started the raids in his organisations.

Meanwhile, police will produce Dr Sabrina A Chowdhury, the chairman of JKG Health Care, before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Monday over fake Covid-19 test result scam. She was arrested on Sunday afternoon.
