Coronavirus may take 2-3 years to go away: DGHS DG

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation in Bangladesh will not go away in two or three months, rather it is likely to stay for two to three years, Prof Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said today.

Even if the infection rate decreases, it will take almost two to three years or even more than that for this [Covid-19] to be under control, the DG said quoting public health experts.

Prof Abul Kalam Azad said this while talking during the daily health bulletin on Covid-19.

The DG himself had been infected with coronavirus and joined work after recovering only a few days ago, he revealed.

The DGHS official also said that it is mandatory for all countrymen to maintain health guidelines as long as the risk persists.
