Bangladesh confirms 7 more Covid-19 deaths, 709 cases, 191 recoveries

Bangladesh today reported seven more deaths from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) overnight, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 206. The recovery count rose to 2,101 in the same period after 191 patients were discharged from hospitals.

As many as 709 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the tally of infections to 13,134. Additional Director (Administration) General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana disclosed in the daily Covid-19 related health bulletin in the afternoon.

She said a total of 5,941 samples were tested at 35 authorised laboratories across the country during the period.

Among the seven deceased, five were male and two female. One was above 90 years old, two were between 71-80 years old, two within 61-70 years old and the other two were between 51-60 years old, Dr Nasima said.

A total of 103 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.

Bangladesh confirmed the first coronavirus death on Mar 18, ten days after the detection of the first Covid-19 cases.
