Banks to remain open 10am to 3pm from Apr 5-9

All banks in the country will remain open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the general holidays from Apr 5 to Apr 9 declared by the government.

Banks will remain open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the extended general holidays, while the transaction shall be made between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., said a Bangladesh Bank circular issued on Thursday (Apr 2), local media reported.

During the general holidays, banks will provide services – deposit and withdrawal through cash or cheque, DD or Pay Order and Treasury Challan.

Banks will also ensure other transaction facilities under the payment system or clearing arrangement of the Bangladesh Bank.

The government on Wednesday (Apr 1) issued an order, extending the holiday for all public and private offices from Apr 5 to Apr 11, including weekly holiday to contain the deadly coronavirus spread in the country.

Earlier on Mar 23, the government had declared a nationwide 10-day holiday shutting down the government and private offices excepting essential and healthcare facilities which was due to expire on Apr 4.
