1,30,000 litres disinfectant water sprayed in DNCC areas

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) authorities on Saturday (Mar 28) sprayed 1,30,000 litres of disinfectant water in around 20.5 lakh square feet areas of the capital aiming to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Through eight water-carrying vehicles, disinfectant water was sprayed in the areas of Uttara, Nikunja, Mirpur, Bhasantek, Matikata, Tolarbagh, Kalyanpur, Mohammadpur Townhall, Farmgate, Khilgaon, Nakalpara, Nabisco and Badda, local media reported citing DNCC officials.

Besides, mosquito repellent were sprayed in lanes and mosques’ premises in every ward of the city corporation.

Apart from conducting awareness campaign on COVID-19 through its Facebook page, the DNCC is also carrying out hand-wash campaign and disseminating messages using loudspeakers to make city dwellers aware of the deadly virus.

The DNCC authorities also distributed essential commodities worth Tk. 1.72 crore among the poor and destitute people to help them cope with their daily needs.

In addition, the joint patrol of DNCC staff and army personnel continues in the city corporation areas to ensure social distancing for commoners, and quarantines for the returnees from abroad and those who had close contact with COVID-19 patients, the officials said.
